Rooted in ancient Chinese movement, originally used in combat!
(Although these sessions are as far from combat, as you could imagine!)
This gentle, flowing set of 18 movements is preceded by a short ‘arriving and grounding mindfulness practice’ and followed with a short settling pause to end. All you will need, is some space around you, a mat or rug under foot for comfort and access to a chair, throughout, should you wish to sit, which you are more than welcome to do for the whole session, if you so wish.
Introductory session:
Beginning in a way which will become familiar, with a short settling practice and then go on to enjoy a little bit of blurb about the set of movements, the benefits and some safety aspects of the session, taking in the golden guidelines for an enjoyable session.
Then a brief introduction to the stances, and move swiftly into guided movement. Throughout the session, gentle music supports the practice. The movement will last around 40 minutes.
The session ends with a pause to notice how things are and a gentle bow in friendship.
This event is offered in collaboration with the Mindfulness Network Community Friends (MNCF) - an initiative to engage the wider mindfulness community and reach new audiences. Led by a Committee of Volunteers, supported by the Mindfulness Network, we work together to run a programme of donation-based events and inspiring content. The Committee ensures that the MNCF can best serve everyone by providing opportunities to practice and learn together.
