Exploring how Mindfulness can Support People Living with Parkinson’s Disease

Hosts: Rebecca Crane and Teresa Gane

This event explores how mindfulness can benefit people living with Parkinson’s Disease.  You have an opportunity to hear from those living with Parkinson’s about how mindfulness has helped with emotional, physical, and psychological aspects of the condition, as well as those teaching the courses.

The event was facilitated by Rebecca Crane and Teresa Gane. Rebecca, who until recently was Director of the Centre for Mindfulness, Research and Practice (CMRP) at Bangor University, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2020.  She speaks about how her practice has supported her personally as well as those in groups she has taught. Teresa works for the Mindfulness Network as Supervision Coordinator and is also a freelance Mindfulness Trainer and outlines the impact of courses she has taught over the past six years.  You also hear from a participant from these courses who  shares their experience and the reason they still practice!

This event was organised in collaboration with the Mindfulness Network Community Friends (MNCF) - an initiative to engage the wider mindfulness community and reach new audiences. Led by a Committee of Volunteers, supported by the Mindfulness Network, we work together to run a programme of donation-based events and inspiring content. The Committee ensures that the MNCF can best serve everyone by providing opportunities to practice and learn together.

The recording is free to watch. The Mindfulness Network welcomes any donations and encourages you to consider a contribution, large or small, which will make a big difference in helping us widen access to mindfulness-based approaches.

Mindfulness practices are suitable for most people, though there may be certain circumstances when it may be wiser not to practice formally. If you’re unsure about whether this is a good time to be coming along to this event, please contact us with your questions. You can also contact us if you notice that taking part in a session has caused any increase in either physical or emotional difficulties. We will talk through with you how you can practice safely and where you may be able to access further support.
