Exploring how Mindfulness can Support People Living with Parkinson’s Disease

When:  Tuesday 25 June 2024, 7:00 - 8:30 pm (UK Time)

Where: Online via Zoom

Hosts: Rebecca Crane and Teresa Gane

Join us for an event exploring how mindfulness can benefit people living with Parkinson’s Disease.  You will have an opportunity to hear from those living with Parkinson’s about how mindfulness has helped with emotional, physical, and psychological aspects of the condition, as well as those teaching the courses.

There will be ample opportunity for people to ask questions or offer reflections as well as a chance to practice a short meditation. All are welcome, with screens off or on as you prefer, and the event will be recorded if you are unable to attend.

The event will be facilitated by Rebecca Crane and Teresa Gane. Rebecca, who until recently was Director of the Centre for Mindfulness, Research and Practice (CMRP) at Bangor University, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2020.  She will be speaking about how her practice has supported her personally as well as those in groups she has taught. Teresa works for the Mindfulness Network as Supervision Coordinator and is also a freelance Mindfulness Trainer and will outline the impact of courses she has taught over the past six years.  You will also hear from at least one participant from these courses who will share their experience and the reason they still practice!

This event is offered in collaboration with the Mindfulness Network Community Friends (MNCF) - an initiative to engage the wider mindfulness community and reach new audiences. Led by a Committee of Volunteers, supported by the Mindfulness Network, we work together to run a programme of donation-based events and inspiring content. The Committee ensures that the MNCF can best serve everyone by providing opportunities to practice and learn together.

The Mindfulness Network is committed to safe practice and we have a Safeguarding Policy that sets out our duty of care to everyone who comes in to contact with the organisation. You can read about the policy here http://home.mindfulness-network.org/our-policies/

Mindfulness practices are suitable for most people, though there may be certain circumstances when it may be wiser not to practice formally. If you’re unsure about whether this is a good time to be coming along to this event, please contact us with your questions. You can also contact us if you notice that taking part in a session has caused any increase in either physical or emotional difficulties. We will talk through with you how you can practice safely and where you may be able to access further support.

The Mindfulness Network Terms and Conditions apply (though payment and cancellation policies are not relevant for freely offered Events) and the Mindfulness Network can not accept any liability for any injury, loss, or damage, suffered during or in relation to the event, however this may be caused.
