    • BAMBA (British Association of Mindfulness-based Approaches)

BAMBA is the UK’s primary professional body of mindfulness practitioners, teachers and teacher training organisations. Our mission is to promote safe, ethical and inclusive practices in the field of evidence-based secular mindfulness teaching in the UK.

It holds the only Register that lists teachers based on meeting the Good Practice Guidelines (GPG’s), that describe the minimum standards of training, experience and ongoing professional practice needed to teach safely and effectively the most used 8-week mindfulness programmes.

The Register has no commercial interests. Register fees are used to cover costs and develop BAMBA so that we can be available as a resource for the public, other teachers, teacher trainers and teacher training organisations, businesses, community organisations, and commissioners

As mindfulness provision extends into many different sectors, there is an ever greater need to be able to identify those people who continue to uphold the integrity of the approach. BAMBA also works with international colleagues to build consensus on the core components of 8-week mindfulness programmes, and is working to recognise new, innovative, accessible mindfulness approaches that can evidence safety and effectiveness. BAMBA also aims to expand its Register to include supervisors and competency assessors, trainees and trainers who meet the agreed standards.

As the mindfulness field moves closer towards more formal accreditation, it would be of benefit to individual teachers and teacher training organisations to apply for a place on the Register.

    • Sarah Silverton Mindfulness: Living in the Present

Online 8-week Introduction to Mindfulness and Wellbeing Courses.

Living in The Present is a new style of eight-week course to introduce mindfulness and well-being to adults. The course focuses on supporting friendly, mindful awareness towards our experience in the midst of our everyday lives. The programme encourages gentle exploration and growing awareness of our experience in this moment. We are learning to be more mindful with ourselves and our lives. We each start to practice from our unique situations and experiences, so the course encourages each of us to practice in ways that are meaningful and accessible as we are just now and in life as we’re living it.

The course helps us build understanding of how mindful awareness and mindful attitudes can support us and resource us in the many kinds of moments in our lives, both joyful and challenging.  The course offers an introduction to a range of mindfulness practices (some “informal practice” and others “formal or meditation practice” to weave into your life. The course is currently generally offered online via Zoom and over eight x 1.5 – hour sessions and taught by Sarah Silverton.

Please contact Sarah at sc.silverton150@gmail.com to book your place on a course.
